Charges:

Develop policies to encourage membership in the society

In coordination with the EMS president, develop an aggressive plan to increase our membership in each of the major areas represented within our Society.

Provide assistance to the EMS business office as needed to:

Maintain an up-to-date membership roster.

Prepare and resolve discrepancies in the membership lists used by the EMS, the EMS business office and the publishers of the Society’s journal and newsletter.

Search for a membership director that would be the liaison for membership between the Society and the business office.

Continue to plan EMS policy and growth direction. Provide recommendations about the role of the EMS in the scientific community at large. Suggest a course for the society to continue to implement direction charges including its: scientific program, involvement in the scientific community at large and molding of its scientific mix and direction.

Suggest and help implement methods by which the society can more effectively promote interactions between its members involved in testing and its members involved in basic research.

Monitor the specialty subgroups on research areas and develop new subgroups as identify.

Recommend and establish a priority for outreach activities to be undertaken by the Society. Identify appropriate mechanisms of implementation of these activities. Coordinate with appropriate Society committees and/or related societies in the implementation of these activities. Place particular emphasis on the essential role of young scientists in the Society.
