Placement Service

Instructions/General Information

The Environmental Mutagen Society and the International Association of Environmental Mutagen Societies provide the EMS/IAEMS Job Placement Service for EMS and IAEMS members and for others seeking or offering employment in core scientific areas of genetics and toxicology, such as, DNA damage, DNA repair, mutagenic mechanisms, molecular epidemiology, DNA technology/genomics and human health effects/risk assessment.

EMS/IAEMS provides advertising freely as a service to the scientific community, and does not screen applicant qualifications. Employers should check all claims and credentials fully before hiring.

Prospective employers: Openings may be placed at anytime. Just send an email to the job coordinator with a short paragraph (or an attached file) describing the open position, any requirements or qualifications, and the employer's contact information. Please see the current openings as examples of position descriptions. Job ads appear here for 6 months or until the job coordinator is notified to extend or terminate the announcement.

Candidates: Send an email to the job coordinator with a short paragraph that briefly describes your background and the position you are seeking. Also, include your curriculum vitae and your contact information. Ads will appear here for one year unless you inform the job coordinator otherwise. See similar ads under the topic heading, "Candidates Available" on this web page for the style format (e.g., third person, past tense grammar) used in our ads.

Responding to ads for posted positions or candidates: Anyone interested in a posted position on this web page should use the information found under that position description, and initiate the contact. To maintain confidentiality, we do not give candidate names directly to prospective employers. The job coordinator will forward any information regarding employer interest directly to the prospective candidate, and then the candidate must contact the employer about the specific job.

For any additional details or to place a job or candidate announcement, contact:

Postdoctoral Staff

At Ordway Research Institute and Department of Biomedical Sciences, State University of New York at Albany                         27 Nov 2007

A recently funded NIH postdoctoral position is available to study how polymorphic human cytochrome P450 genes activate carcinogens to become genotoxic agents. The project involves expressing cytochrome P450 genes in yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae and monitoring checkpoint activation and genotoxic endpoints after exposure to liver carcinogens. The project is in collaboration with the School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience in yeast genetics, PCR, chromosome karyotyping, and general molecular biology techniques.

Experience in yeast genetics is desirable but not necessary.
