Getting Around Vancouver
Ground Transportation Airport to Hotel
Vancouver International Airport is located approximately 20 miles from the Hyatt Regency Vancouver. YVR Airporter is Vancouver's International Airport Shuttle Service. The shuttle departs every 30 minutes from both the airport and hotel. The cost is $18 (CAD) roundtrip (fares subject to change). Family fares are available. The travel time is 45 minutes by shuttle. For reservations, schedules, and fares call: (800) 668-3141 or (604) 946-8866, or visit www.yvrairporter.com. Taxi service from the airport is approximately $25 (CAD) and credit cards are accepted. Return taxi service can easily be obtained at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver.Vancouver is a major metropolitan city. That being said, the Hyatt Regency is not really close to most of your transit options. The Vancouver transit system (BC Transit) runs buses past the hotel very frequently, some of which connect to the monorail, trains, and airport connectors. Cabs are numerous, can be flagged on the street or called up, but can be pricey. Handicap cabs are quite common, but you'll need to phone for those. The airport is accessible by car, cab, shuttle, or transit bus. The bus is a slow way to go from the airport to the Hyatt.
Getting around downtown. Cabs are plentiful and can be flagged anywhere. Walking is a realistic option. Hyatt to Gastown 10 minutes, Chinatown, 10-15 minutes. To Stanley Park 5-10 minutes. Granville Island 30 minutes to water taxi from north side of False Creek, or 45 over the bridge. The Beaches (end of Robson Street) 5 minutes. Kitsilano beach (Planetarium, Maritime Museum, Siegel's Bagels), 30 minutes.
Car rental is an option, but you'll sometimes find special charges for picking up your car or dropping it at the airport. Vancouver drivers are big city, but mainly courteous. Given the local price of car insurance, it's no surprise. The Hyatt will no doubt charge you for parking. OTOH, most car rental agencies will drop off your car at the hotel, so short rentals are an option.
