The breakfast meetings of the eight society SIGs are a time-tested favorite of the Annual Meetings. The format provides free-form discussions and short presentations of the key challenges. The SIGS provide a casual way for young investigators and seasoned researchers to interact. The SIGs will also play a major role in identifying the scientific topics for symposia and workshop of next year’s society meeting in Puerto Rico. There are two new additions to the SIGS: Epigenetics and Women in EMS.
The various special interest group breakfasts are noted at 7:00 AM each day in the program. If you are interested in attending, please check the appropriate box on the registration form. Each breakfast meeting is $10.

The new SIG, “Women in the EMS” (WEMS), will focus on women’s issues within the EMS as well as broader issues that face many women in scientific careers. WEMS’s mission is to: create opportunities for networking and mentoring for women, encourage leadership and career development and to encourage and support representation of women throughout the Society and within the scientific community. Since we are a new SIG we will focus our first meeting in Atlanta on determining what our group should focus on for the next meeting, and what format would best suit our needs. Please join us in helping to set up this important new SIG, your input is important!
